Exploring Career Education Locally (EXCEL) Tours launched in the Spring of 2017 as a way to connect local high school students with businesses in Keith County. This career exposure will assist students in choosing a post-secondary education path and increase the likelihood of them returning to Keith County.
The partnership between KCAD, MPCC, and the local schools has produced two tours to date. The graduating class of 2018 has been connected with nine participating business, four in the spring as juniors, and five in the fall as seniors. Students have gained knowledge in a vast array of careers which include: Banking, Auto Body, Sheet Metal Heating, Healthcare, Radio Broadcasting, Fiber Communications, Agricultural Technology, and Construction Management
The Tuition Reimbursement Program was created in 2016 as a way to assist local employers in recruiting quality workforce to the area.
The KCAD Revolving Loan Fund was established in 2017 to provide financial assistance to small & emerging private businesses in Keith County. As of September 1, 2017, approximately $40,000 has been allocated to assisting small business.
KCAD has assisted with one business transistion and one new business start-up thus far in 2017.
BUSINESS RETENTION & EXPANSION
KCAD has performed approximately 30 Business Retention & Expansion visits in Keith County annually. Currently, 40 visits are projected for 2017, allowing KCAD to stay connected with the county's most valuable resource, local businesses.
