With the passage of Legislative Bill 406, Nebraska Legislature set out to identify opportunities to enhance and sustain two of the State’s greatest assets – its people and its natural resources. It has commissioned a study on tourism, water access and economic development by HDR Inc. The study, which includes the Lake McConaughy region as an area of focus, will define a vision that can serve as a catalyst for opportunity including tourism, economic development, population retention and growth, job growth, and resiliency. Recently, HDR conducted a survey about the Lake McConaughy region. (Thank you to all who participated!) The next step of the study process is a Design Workshop, during which the HDR team will develop design concepts for the Lake McConaughy Region for public review and feedback. The team will host a short presentation each evening from September 27 – 30 promptly at 5:45 p.m., followed by an open house where attendees will be able to view proposed design concepts, ask questions of the project team, and provide feedback.
